Kidmans Camp was established in 1998 by current owners Peter and Tracey Simmonds, Peter a former Australian Champion Bronc Rider and builder and Tracey who is also a competitive rodeo rider grew up in Bourke and have lived in the region most of their lives. Peter and Tracey saw the tourism industry as one that was growing and in the mid 1990's set about the development of what was to become Kidmans Camp. Peter, with his building background laid out the plans for a Caravan and Cabin park that would ultimately have the capacity of 500 guests. Call in and visit for yourselves. The building was erected in 1890 for Dr. Sipes as a medical centre and residence. It was named after Mr. Towers, his chemist. It survived the 1890 flood and severe fire. Succeeding doctors used it until 1920.Bourke and District Historical Society has used the premises from 1976 to 1996 as a museum. Apartments 1, 2 and 3 are all located on the first floor. These have shared cooking and bathroom facilities. Apartment 4 has private cooking and bathroom facilities.
